AutoText in Word 2007
Repetitive text (a boilerplate paragraph to close your correspondences, promo blurbs inserted in client letters, a table of prices/submission deadlines) can be added to any Word 2007 document by using AutoText. Start by adding AutoText to the Quick Access toolbar:
- Click on the Microsoft Office Button, click on Word Options, and select Customize.
- In the list under Choose commands from, select All Commands.
- Scroll through the list to find and select AutoText, then click Add.
With AutoText now part of the Quick Access toolbar, you can now create new AutoText entries as needed:
- From your Word document, select the text you want added, and click on AutoText from the Quick Access toolbar.
- Click on Save Selection to AutoText Gallery.
- Fill out the information in the Create New Building Block dialog box: Type a unique Name, select the Gallery you want it in, select a Category or create a new one, type a Description, click the name of the template from the Save in drop-down list, and choose one of the listed Options.
When you need items saved in AutoText, choose the name of the text block you need, and watch whole paragraphs, lists or tables attached to your document in a snap!
