Converting Text to Tables in Word 2007
Try these tips to quickly switch from text to tables and vice versa in Word 2007! To convert text into a table:
- Insert separator characters (commas or tabs, to indicate where you want text divided into columns. Use paragraph marks to indicate a new row.
- Select the text you want to convert.
- Select the Insert tab on the ribbon. Click Table and then click Convert Text to Table.
- Look at the options under Separate Text at, and then click on the separator character that you used.
- In the Number of columns box, check the number of columns and make sure it’s the number you wanted to have. If it isn’t, you may be missing a separator character somewhere. Select any other options you may want.
To convert a table to text:
- Select the rows or table you want to convert to paragraphs.
- Go to Table Tools Layout tab. In the Data group, click Convert to Text.
- Look at the options under Separate text with and choose the separator character you want to use.
Clean up your text by removing the separator marks, and you are finished!
